Hip-hop dancers sought for Lied Center performance

Up to three local dancers will be selected for the Rennie Harris Puremovement performance of "Lifted" Jan. 26 at the Lied Center.

Auditions for experienced hip-hop dancers to perform with the renowned Rennie Harris Puremovement dance company will be at 8 p.m. Jan. 16 in the Mabel Lee dance studio.

A University of Nebraska–Lincoln student and up to two dancers from the wider community will be selected to perform with the company in “Lifted” at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

The auditions are 8 to 9:30 p.m. Candidates will be notified of whether they have been selected Jan. 16. Selected dancers must be able to attend four- to five-hour daily rehearsals from Jan. 17-26. They will receive a $500 stipend.

Those who wish to audition must register here. Once the online form is completed, a link will be provided containing choreography for “Lifted.” The choreography must be learned before the auditions.
