Fresh, local food doesn’t have to require an extra trip to the farmers market. Through HealthierU’s partnership with Robinette Farms, University of Nebraska–Lincoln employees can bring locally grown and produced foods closer to home — or, in this case, right to campus.
HealthierU is participating in the 2026 Mayor’s Local Food Challenge by partnering with Robinette Farms to provide a convenient weekly local food subscription pick-up location at the City Campus Recreation Center. The program is currently underway and offers employees an easy way to support local farmers and producers while adding more fresh, locally sourced foods to their meals.
Robinette Farms is a local family-run farm that grows certified organic microgreens and salad greens and raises 100% grass-fed beef. Through its local food marketplace, Robinette Farms also works with more than 30 local producers, giving customers access to a wide variety of locally grown and produced foods.
Depending on what is available each week, employees can customize their orders with items such as fresh vegetables, meat, dairy products, pasta, baked goods, coffee and other locally produced foods. The marketplace currently features products from producers throughout Nebraska and the surrounding region.
The subscription model also offers flexibility. Rather than receiving a predetermined box, participants can choose the foods they want, adjust their orders and skip weeks when needed.
For employees who select the UNL HealthierU (employee only) location, orders open Friday's at 3 p.m. and close Monday's at 10 a.m.. Orders are delivered to the City Campus Recreation Center every Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m.
The program is designed to make choosing local food a little easier. Instead of adding another stop to an already busy week, employees can pick up their local food order while they are on campus.
There is no membership fee, and participants have the flexibility to choose what goes into their weekly order. The price depends on the items selected, with a $35 minimum per delivery. Weekly shipments can also be skipped when needed, as long as the order is canceled before the weekly deadline.
