The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music is hosting an evening celebrating the music and artistry of saxophonist Stan Getz with Paul Haar, saxophone; Hans Strum, bass; Dave Hall, drums; and Tom Larson, piano at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13 in Westbrook Music Building.
Included will be classic jazz and American popular standards made famous by Stan Getz as well as works by Kenny Barron, Victor Lewis and others.
Acclaimed saxophonist Paul Haar, associate professor of saxophone and director of Jazz Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has contributed his notable talent to numerous projects in both the jazz and classical genres and is recognized as being one of the most versatile saxophonists today.
As an active classical musician, he has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and South America. As a soloist, he has commissioned and performed featured works other artists and has been a featured artist with wind ensembles from University of Nebraska–Lincoln, University of Texas at Austin, University of Tennessee, Pacific Lutheran University and University of South Carolina.
The performance is free and open to the public.
