Tanya Gabrielian, Martin Endowed Professor of Piano at Indiana University-South Bend and award-winning pianist, will lead a recital featuring composers with mental illnesses at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22 in the Westbrook Music Building. The recital is free and open to the public.
The performance will include pieces by George Frederick Handel/Franz Liszt, Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, and Franz Schubert. The program seeks to increase awareness of mental health issues, as well as emphasize music’s healing nature. A program for the recital is available online.
Gabrielian has won awards at several international competitions and earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
