The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Medieval and Renaissance Studies program and University Libraries’ Archives and Special Collections are hosting a For the Love of Books celebration on Feb. 8.
The free, public event is 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Lentz Room in Love Library South, 1248 R St. It will feature musical entertainment from the band Tupelo Springfield (professors Stephen Buhler, Jack Vespa and Kelly Stage) with vocalist Julia Schleck. The band will perform songs inspired by sonnets, Spanish sonnet songs and early modern arrangements. Food and beverages will be available.
A small selection of rare books available for adoption will be on display. Donations can be made through the University of Nebraska Foundation through Feb. 28. Supporters can adopt a book or manuscript or make a general donation here. A list of books with detailed descriptions can be found on the website.
Funds raised will support Archives and Special Collections and the Medieval and Renaissance Studies program.
