Nebraska’s 2018 Filley-Garey Lecture will feature a discussion on “Data, Economics and Computational Agricultural Science.”
The talk, delivered by John Antle, professor of applied economics at Oregon State University and a fellow at Resources for the Future, is 3 p.m. March 2 in the East Union Arbor Suite. A reception will follow the lecture. Both the talk and reception are free and open to the public.
Antle will discuss the role of economics in computational agricultural research and development, exploring how advantages in artificial intelligence and machine learning are similar to recent developments in microeconometrics. The talk will show how these developments have implications for the future of smart farming systems.
The Filley-Garey Lecture is an annual event, funded by the family of H. Clyde Filley and Bud Garey.
