The Academic Planning Committee is seeking feedback from the campus community regarding the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s $12 million budget reduction proposal.
Announced in a Nov. 8 email from Chancellor Rodney Bennett, the plan outlines proposed reductions to address a structural deficit that the university has carried forward for multiple years. The proposal, which includes all areas of university operations, does not eliminate academic programs. A complete overview is available here.
The Academic Planning Committee is reviewing the proposal. To further the review process, the committee is asking students, faculty and staff to submit feedback electronically. The online form will be available through Dec. 1.
In his message to campus, Bennett said that the elimination of this deficit would help the university, “reach our full potential and expand our role as a national leader in higher education.”
Details about the final outcome of the $12 million budget reduction proposal will be announced in the coming weeks.
