The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is assisting the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department with COVID-19 vaccination clinics on April 7-9.
Up to 180 faculty and staff volunteers are needed to staff the six shifts over the three days. The clinics operate from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with each day divided into two shifts — 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Organizers seek 25 to 30 volunteers from the university for each individual shift.
“This is our opportunity as a community to expand our positive impact on Lincoln and Lancaster County in a time of tremendous need,” Chancellor Ronnie Green said. “I encourage each of our faculty and staff to consider this great opportunity, knowing you have support from our entire leadership team to participate.”
Each university employee will be granted administrative leave to serve during the clinics.
Volunteers will assist primarily with outdoor guidance at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Duty stations include guiding the parking process in nearby garages and assisting mobility-challenged individuals transition in and out of the building.
Volunteers also receive a 20 to 25 minute lunch (meal provided) and other breaks as needed. Free parking will be available to all volunteers.
Prior vaccination is not needed to participate. Volunteers can be vaccinated if desired.
Faculty and staff interested in volunteering should contact Julie Kroese via email to julie.kroese@unl.edu, including shift preference (clinic date and morning or afternoon shift) and cell phone number.
Specific details about the clinics, volunteer expectations and access to a short training video will be provided.
