Faculty senate to meet Sept. 4

The next meeting of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Faculty Senate is 2:30 p.m. Sept. 4 in the Nebraska Union, Regency Suite.

The agenda includes a report by Chancellor Ronnie Green and presentation of awards to James Griesen, Marco Abel and Julia Schleck.

Griesen, emeritus professor of educational administration, will be presented with the Louise Pound-George Howard Distinguished Career Service Award. Abel, chair and professor of English, and Schleck, associate professor of English, will receive the James A. Lake Academic Freedom Award.

Established in 1974, the Faculty Senate is a representative body of members elected by the faculty of Nebraska’s academic units. The senate is the university’s governing agency for dealing with issues that impact more than one college. It also acts as the official voice of university faculty.

Faculty senate meetings are open to the public. The president of the senate is Jeffrey Rudy, professor of practice in nutrition and health sciences.
