The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Faculty Senate will discuss proposed revisions to the university bylaws and hear a presentation by Chancellor Ronnie Green during its 2:30 p.m. Jan. 10 meeting in the East Union Arbor Suite.
The bylaws are being updated to reflect recent changes on campus — including the integration of new administrative positions, such as the executive vice chancellor, and dropping outdated program names. The update will also include minor refinements about the Faculty Senate and the Academic Planning Committee.
For a complete review of the bylaw updates, faculty should contact a college representative. A complete list of representatives is available online.
All bylaw updates must be approved by a host of campus bodies, including the faculty senate, Association of Students of the University of Nebraska, Academic Planning Committee, and Board of Regents. The regents are tentatively scheduled to consider the updates in late spring.
The Jan. 10 Faculty Senate agenda also includes committee reports on intercollegiate athletics, academic planning and student conduct board.
Established in 1974, the Faculty Senate is a representative body of members elected by the faculty of Nebraska’s academic units. The senate is the university’s governing agency for dealing with issues that impact more than one college. It also acts as the official voice of the faculty.
Faculty senate meetings are open to the public.
