Grab a sweet treat at the Dairy Store

July is National Ice Cream Month – and what better way to celebrate than visiting the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Dairy Store? Nebraska’s home for handmade ice cream has been around since 1917 and offers everything from sundaes to root beer floats.

Discounted Happy Hour prices are available from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Catch some waves with the Outdoor Adventures Center

Outdoor-lovers looking to avoid the summer heat can experience the best of both worlds in an evening paddleboard yoga session hosted by the Outdoor Adventures Center.

The paddleboard excursion will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. July 10, with the center providing boards, lifejackets, paddles and campfire desserts. Fees are $5 for members of Campus Rec and $20 for the general public.

Learn more about a 50-million-year-old fossil

"Kirby" is one of the University of Nebraska State Museum's newest fossils. The 50 million year-old lemur is emerging this summer in the museum's Visible Lab, which allows visitors to see first-hand how specimens are prepared for scientific research and preservation.

Kick back in hammocks near Broyhill

Hammocks behind Broyhill Fountain offer the perfect opportunity to unwind throughout the day. The hammocks were permanently installed near the end of 2017 and are situated on Nebraska Union Plaza near the green space.

Talk theater with Nebraska faculty

The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center will host two National Theater encore screenings and discussions this month.

“Hamlet” will screen at 1 p.m. July 14. Julia Schleck and Kelly Stage, associate professors of English, will offer their expertise as guest speakers after the film.

“The Lehman Trilogy” will screen at 1 p.m. July 28. Schleck will return to the Ross as a guest speaker.

Find your inner yogi at Tower Square

Feeling flexible? Lotus House of Yoga will host two free yoga classes from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. July 6 and July 20 on Tower Square, 13th and P Streets.

The drop-in classes are open to all ages and skill levels. Participants only need to bring a mat or towel.
