The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is extending its enrollment deposit deadline for incoming undergraduates to May 15.
The two-week extension is in response to the U.S. Department of Education’s implementation delays of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid Form — known widely as the FAFSA. The May 15 deadline should provide students and their families with necessary time to evaluate financial aid offers.
“The FAFSA Form is a key component to affordability for students nationally. Understanding the importance of making informed decisions about higher education, Nebraska recognizes the significance of having sufficient time for families to assess their financial aid options,” said James Volkmer, interim associate vice chancellor of academic services and enrollment management. “The extension of the enrollment deposit deadline aims to provide families with more flexibility in their decision-making process.”
Incoming undergraduates who submit the FAFSA Form will begin receiving rolling financial aid offer notifications in late April. Notifications will be sent via email, and students can view their full financial aid offer in the “Financial Aid” tab in MyRED, the online student portal. Students may utilize Nebraska’s online guide to help evaluate the offer and complete the financial aid process.
Admitted students who submit or defer the enrollment deposit by May 1 will gain access to New Student Enrollment orientation, advising and course enrollment processes when they open on May 2. Students who submit or defer the enrollment deposit between May 2-15 will gain access to New Student Enrollment processes within 24 hours.
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln continues to closely monitor the U.S. Department of Education’s implementation of the new FAFSA Form.
