UNL electrical engineering seniors Kathleen Gegner, Shawn Prochaska and Andrew Ruskamp have earned scholarships from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Power and Energy Society.
The scholarships—up to $7,000 over three years – go to students who study electrical or computer engineering at accredited universities in the United States or Canada and maintain high GPAs and activity in distinctive extracurricular involvements.
The recipients take at least three power engineering courses and show commitment to the power and energy field.
“These students are promising future engineers in power and energy,” said Jerry Hudgins, chair and professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering. “We’d like to thank PES and the regional volunteer leaders who selected our Nebraska Engineering students.
“Within a few years, these individuals will graduate with the knowledge and career experience necessary to begin making an impact across the power and energy industry.”
Gegner is from Denver, Colo.; Prochaska is from Lincoln; and Ruskamp is from West Point, Neb.
