A new podcast from the Department of Educational Administration at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will explore hot topics educational leaders are addressing in the classroom. Episodes of Lead Big Red will be shared twice monthly and feature captivating conversations with scholars and school leaders.
Scott Sturgeon, associate professor of practice, and Shavonna Holman, assistant professor of practice, developed the podcast as a new way to connect with those serving in, or wanting to learn more about, leadership roles in educational fields.
“Listeners of the Lead Big Red podcast can expect to hear about philosophical and practical approaches to leading today’s schools and educational institutions,” Sturgeon said. “We focus on timely topics and issues that our school systems and leaders have to discuss, approach, solve and manage, such as legislation and funding.”
Featured Lead Big Red guests include Nick Pace, chair of the Department of Educational Administration at Nebraska; Micah Ali, president of the Compton Unified School District in Compton, California; Michael Casserly, executive director of the Council of Great City Schools; Tawana Grover, superintendent of Grand Island Public Schools; and Cheryl Logan, superintendent of Omaha Public Schools.
While many of the guests on Lead Big Red will have Nebraska ties, the topics will apply to education across the country and globally.
