Following the positive response to the Dish it Up: Special Edition session held June 2, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Office of Diversity and Inclusion and Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services will continue the conversation with a second event, noon to 1:30 p.m. June 23.
These sessions are designed to create a safe space for participants to come together to discuss current events and engage in meaningful conversation surrounding potentially tough topics.
Dish it Up breakout conversations will be facilitated by counselors from the university’s Counseling and Psychological Services, OASIS staff members, and affiliates of the university. Those interested in becoming a breakout facilitator, email oasis@unl.edu for more information.
Conversations in this special edition will focus on:
The mission and progression of the Black Lives Matter movement since its inception in 2013.
National outrage over the Breonna Taylor case and its implication regarding African American women in society.
Tangible next steps for education, engagement, and advocacy.
This conversation is open to the campus and local community as well as friends of the university. Registration is required for this event and can be done here. Registration will close at 5 p.m. June 19.
