Alumna Dani Busboom Kelly, Nebraska volleyball’s new head coach, walks on a red carpet toward the Pinnacle Bank Arena court while being introduced during a break in the Jan. 30 men's basketball win over No. 23 Illinois. Busboom Kelly, a libero on Nebraska volleyball’s 2006 national championship team, succeeds her former coach and mentor, John Cook, who announced his retirement after 25 seasons leading the team.
Busboom Kelly is a native of Cortland, Nebraska. She spent the last eight years building the University of Louisville’s volleyball program into a national power. During her tenure, the Cardinals reached two NCAA championship matches, three NCAA semifinals, five regional finals, and won four Atlantic Coach Conference titles.
