Cultural Cuisine Nights will return to Cather Dining Center with the Lunar New Year Celebration Jan. 28.
The event kicks off the first of three dinners in this series, offering students, faculty, and staff a chance to explore diverse culinary traditions from around the world.
Whether you’re familiar with the customs or new to the celebration, the Lunar New Year event promises an opportunity to experience the rich traditions, vibrant flavors and cultural significance of this holiday.
Guests will enjoy traditional dishes such as bao buns, longevity noodles, sesame rice balls, and salmon with orange sauce while also learning about the meaning behind the holiday's customs. Expect festive decorations, music and cultural customs to celebrate the year of the snake.
Dinner service will be 4:30 to 8 p.m. and programming from 5 to 7 p.m at the Willa Cather Dining Center and Red Cloud A. Cost is included with students' meal plan. The International Student and Scholar Office is offering meal tickets for purchase at a reduced rate for those without a meal plan, otherwise regular dining hall rates apply.
This Lunar New Year celebration is open to all students, staff, faculty and family. Additional Cultural Cuisine Nights throughout the semester will continue to showcase other global culinary traditions. The event is organized by the International Student and Scholar Office, University Housing and Dining Services.
