Cosmos and Cocktails returns to Morrill Hall with fall twist

Nebraska's iconic Archie the mammoth sculpture has been in place welcoming NU State Museum visitors for 20 years. Designed by Nebraska artist Fred Hoppe, the sculpture is based on the museum's record-setting fossil mount of a Columbian mammoth.

Cosmos and Cocktails, an adults-only event at University of Nebraska State Museum-Morrill Hall, is back with a fall twist.

The new program, “Dreaming of Autumn” is set for 6-9 p.m. Sept. 21. Participants in Cosmos and Cocktails will get to explore the newly renovated Morrill Hall after-hours while enjoying appetizers and drinks.

Tickets also include access to a new, live-narrated planetarium show and a variety of activities provided by museum partners. The planetarium show, "Stars of the Zodiac," explores the connection between astronomy and astrology within the three zodiac signs visible in Nebraska’s autumn sky: Pisces, Aquarius, and Aries. The show is only available for Cosmos and Cocktails.

Advance tickets are required, with a discount offered for UNL faculty, staff, and students, as well as museum members. Cosmos and Cocktails is $45 for the public and $35 for UNL faculty, staff, students and museum members. Guests must be at least 21 years old to participate. Additional details about the event are available online.
