Nebraska Extension will present a composting demonstration from 10 to 11 a.m. Sept. 26 at Pioneers Park Nature Center’s backyard composting demonstration area, across the street from the Nature Center. The area is identifiable by an extension banner.
Extension Master Gardeners will demonstrate how to construct a compost pile and discuss types of structures that can be built or purchased for composting. Participants also will learn about the proper carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, the balance of “green” and “brown” materials, and basic troubleshooting.
The event is free and open to the public. No preregistration is required. One participant will be randomly selected to win a composting thermometer.
