CBA to host financial analysis, policy conference


The College of Business Administration Financial Analysis and Policy Conference is 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 4 in the Lied Center for Performing Arts’ Carson Theater.

The event, which is co-sponsored by the CBA School of Accountancy and Finance Department, features internationally acclaimed speakers discussing current domestic issues in finance and accounting regulations, and a battle of austerity in the European debt crisis.

Speakers include Bradley Belt, vice chairman of Orchard Global Asset Management, who will present, “Can American Afford Retirement” at 9:15 a.m.; and R. Harold Schroeder, board member for the Financial Accounting Standards Board, who will present “Regulatory Trends Affecting the Financial Sector” at 10:30 a.m.

The luncheon speaker at 11:45 a.m. is Francine McKenna, a freelance journalist and contributor to Forbes magazine. McKenna will present “The Economic Significance of the Audit Industry and the Key Role of Integrity in the Accounting Profession.”

At 1:45 p.m., internationally known panelists will discuss the European Debt Crisis. Martin Holmes, (Hon) Member Senior Common Room, St. Hugh’s College and Nicholas Horsewood, senior lecturer of economics, both from Oxford University in England, will discuss the U.K. perspectives on the Eurozone Debt and Deficit Crisis. George Tsetsekos, dean emeritus of Drexel Univeristy in Philadelphia, will present the Greek perspective and Albrecht Duernhoefer from Allianz Investment Management SE will address the German perspective.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and closing remarks are scheduled for 4 p.m.
