Undergraduate students passionate about creating positive change are encouraged to apply to become a Huskers CARE Peer Educator. Peer educators facilitate workshops with fellow students to raise awareness of sexual and relationship violence, stalking, and sexual harassment.
The Center for Advocacy, Response, and Education is actively recruiting applicants for the second year of the prevention program. Huskers CARE Peer Educators are paid $13 per hour during training and when facilitating Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence workshops.
Successful applicants will participate in a 32-hour paid comprehensive training with CARE staff to help them gain an in-depth understanding of consent, sexual and relationship violence, university policies, and resources available on campus and in the community.
Undergraduate students of all majors are encouraged to apply.
“I believe it is impactful to educate others on topics that they might not think affect them but definitely do in one way or another,” said Lydia Storm, a forensic science and biochemistry major and Huskers CARE Peer Educator.
CARE has also added a new position to its office to aid in the expansion of peer education. Abbey Ragain began serving as the Prevention Program Coordinator in early March.
“I am incredibly excited to get to work with change-making undergraduate Peer Educators and see them make a difference on campus,” said Ragain.
Interested students should apply by March 31.
