April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Each year, on the first Tuesday in April, a Day of Action brings awareness to sexual violence and its prevention.
On April 2, CARE encourages the Husker community to show support for survivors of sexual harassment and abuse by wearing teal.
Teams can also request materials, and CARE will deliver SAAM ribbons, stickers and info flyers to departments, student organizations or groups. This gesture lets Huskers know that help is available and survivors are not alone. Request materials here by March 29.
CARE will be present on the Nebraska Union’s Memorial Plaza from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 2, offering Huskers teal ribbons or stickers. Stop by to learn more about Sexual Assault Awareness Month and how to promote positive change.
On April 24, join CARE in solidarity with sexual violence survivors by wearing denim. Denim Day is an international campaign initiated in 1999 after an Italian court ruling and highlights the unjust implication of consent based upon clothing.
CARE invites students to enjoy a free coffee beverage and show support of survivors by participating in the creation of a denim art display between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the Memorial Plaza.
Participants can also help spread the word on Instagram by tagging @care_at_unl and using hashtags #HuskersCare and #SAAM2024.
