Capstone Exhibition opens Dec. 13

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History and Design will present the work of graduating undergraduate students in the Fall 2021 Capstone Exhibition, which will have both online and in-person components.

This biannual experience is held at the end of the fall and spring semesters and presents the work of each semester’s graduating Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts seniors in studio art and graphic design as a culmination of their coursework and exploration.

The studio art exhibition will be on display in the Eisentrager•Howard Gallery in Richards Hall from Dec. 13-17. A closing reception will be 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 17 in the gallery with awards being announced during the reception.

Gallery hours for the exhibition are weekdays, 12:30-4:30 p.m. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.

The graphic design exhibition will be Dec. 15-17 in the Nebraska Union’s Centennial Room. Open hours will be Wednesday to Friday, noon to 5 p.m. It will also be open during the closing reception, 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 17.

A digital presentation of Capstone projects will also be available beginning Dec. 13 at Viewers will find a page for each student that contains information on their personal research as well as links to further information like websites, CVs, social media handles, and more.

The following students are participating in this year’s Capstone exhibition:

Studio Art: Nina Cayou, Jiang Chen, Erin Colson, Sam Eskridge, Maria Guiza Beltran, Kassidy Linabery, Katy Michels, Gretchen Payne, Bird Rippe, Emily Salisbury and Miley Thompson.

Graphic Design: Samantha Bendix, Samantha Bendix, Cassandra Burkhalter, Breanna Epp, Anna Fiala, Cole Hankins, Anne Kujawa, Chris Kujawa , Brenda Lee, Keshta Manakdan, Christian Marcial, Brian Merk, Preston Parry, Bryce Reichardt, Alice Richter, Meredith Ristine, Annie Rudolph, Karrar Salloom, Jennie Wang, Britt White and Andy Zulkoski.

“Each year our graduating students spend their final semester preparing work for this exhibition,” said Aaron Holz, a professor of art who coordinated the studio art capstone exhibition. “It is a thrill to see how they meld the cumulative experience of our program and their individual voice and sensibility for their thesis capstone.”
