The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Campus Red Cross Club is holding a blood drive, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 28-29, at St. Mark’s on the Campus, 1309 R St.

Appointments can be made using the Blood Donor App, online, or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Walk-ins will also be accepted as time allows.

The American Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage, with the national blood supply down about 35% in the past month. Hospitals are relying on community partners like us to help ensure patients don’t face delays in lifesaving care. Donations help trauma victims, cancer patients, mothers in childbirth, and individuals living with sickle cell disease.

Winter weather and a severe flu season have disrupted hundreds of blood drives nationwide, making it even more important for those who are able to give now or schedule an upcoming appointment.

Through Feb. 28, donors will receive a $20 e-gift card to a merchant of choice.
