In an effort to promote safe bicycle riding and foster community among cyclists, Campus Recreation will offer free bike commuter skills classes for students and community members. The two classes will be 4 to 8 p.m. April 9 and 16 at the Outdoor Adventures Center.
Participants only need to attend one session. The classes are free for students and Campus Recreation members and $30 for the general public.
Smart Cycling is designed by the League of American Bicyclists and outlines the basic rules of the road, components of a bicycle and all of the information you need to ride a bike safely and confidently. Participants will learn how to use a bicycle with confidence and competence for pleasure, utility and sport under various highway, climate, terrain and traffic conditions.
Class time is spent on the bike doing drills to build bike handling skills and riding on the street as a part of traffic.
Participants can register for the class online or by calling 402-472-4777.
