A new series of discussions exploring important campus issues is expanding to link University of Nebraska-Lincoln administrators with students, faculty and staff.
The “Listening Tour: Campus Conversations” series opened Feb. 8 with a 90-minute, student-centric session in the Kauffman Academic Center Great Hall. More than 70 attended the open forum and feedback led to administrators adding a faculty and staff discussion to the series.
“I am so impressed with our students who were willing to attend today and speak from their hearts,” said Donde Plowman, executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer. “It will only be through conversation that we find ways to connect and move forward together to make things better.”
The faculty and staff session is 10 to 11 a.m. Feb. 9 in the Nebraska Union Colonial Room. It will be followed by a 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. open forum for students, also in the Nebraska Union Colonial Room.
Chancellor Ronnie Green and Plowman will participate in the faculty and staff session.
Mirroring the Feb. 8 open forum, the Feb. 9 student session will include Plowman, Laurie Bellows, interim vice chancellor for student affairs; Charlie Foster, director of the Gaughan Multicultural Center and assistant vice chancellor for student affairs; and Joe Zach, president of the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska.
These open forums are the first in an ongoing series of campus conversations connecting administrators directly with the campus community. Additional dates and locations for the listening tour will be announced.
