The University of Nebraska–Lincoln closed out the 2024-25 Combined Campaign for Health and Human Services with one in five employees donating a total of more than $205,000.
Giving to the annual United Way/Combined Health Agencies Drive of Nebraska campaign benefits more than 145 local agencies that directly assist the Lincoln and Lancaster County communities. The 2024-25 campaign started Nov. 4.
“The success of our Combined Campaign reflects the heart and character of University of Nebraska–Lincoln faculty and staff,” Chancellor Rodney D. Bennett said. “You invested in Lincoln, elevating individuals and families across our community toward a brighter future. Your giving is a testament to the strength of UNL’s commitment to making our university and our city the best it can be.”
As part of a friendly, university-wide competition, the campaign leaderboard has Business and Finance and the Nebraska Alumni Association taking first place overall in the large and small office divisions, respectively.
The team contest is divided into divisions based on unit size — large (more than 200 employees) and small (less than 200 employees). The final top five in each division are:
Large Division
- Business and Finance, 64%
- NU Office of the President, 61.2%
- Student Life, 38.2%
- Research and Innovation, 29%
- Nebraska Athletics, 21.9%
Small Division
- Alumni Association, 50%
- Law, 28.4%
- University Libraries, 22%
- Office of the Chancellor, 21.1%
- Nursing, 17.5%
The complete leaderboards, which are updated weekly, are available here.
Each week, to generate enthusiasm among faculty and staff, one participant has earned a reward of tickets to a Huskers event or show at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. In the final week, Joe Morrison, an educational specialist with TRIO Programs, won tickets to see Husker men’s basketball play Southern University on Dec. 30.
The campaign was chaired by Lawrence Chatters, director of community partnerships and strategic initiatives for the Office of the Chancellor.
"I am incredibly proud to have helped lead the charge for this year’s United Way Combined Campaign, an initiative that truly reflects our commitment to strengthening our community,” Chatters said. “Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed — your efforts have made a significant impact.”
