Bryan Health will hold a free Stop the Bleed course for University of Nebraska–Lincoln faculty, staff and students on May 8 in the Nebraska Union, Regency Suite. Classes, each lasting 60 to 90 minutes, are at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Pre-registration, available here, is required.
The Stop the Bleed program provides information on how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and intervene effectively. The training includes three quick techniques to help save a life when someone is bleeding. Those methods include how to use hands to apply pressure to a wound; how to pack a wound to control bleeding; and how to correctly apply a tourniquet.
The class will feature lectures and hands-on training. Participants are encouraged to stay afterward to practice with equipment provided.
