The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Department of Physics and Astronomy will host a “Cluster Busters” open house from 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 9 at Behlen Observatory, 35 miles northeast of Lincoln, near Mead. The event is free and open to the public.
If weather permits, attendees will be able to view the Hercules star cluster, Wild Duck cluster, double cluster in Perseus, and Seven Sisters. Attendees can view objects through the historic 30-foot Behlen telescope — the largest in Nebraska — and other telescopes provided by local astronomers.
Nebraska’s Kevin Lee and Rebecca Harbison will present astronomy programs at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. in the Behlen lecture hall. Society of Physics students will perform science demonstrations.
