The University of Nebraska–Lincoln will hold August 2021 commencement exercises on Aug. 13-14 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The ceremonies are 3 p.m. Aug. 13 for the graduate commencement (for doctoral, juris doctor and master’s degrees); and 9 a.m. Aug. 14 for the undergraduate program. Both ceremonies will be held in Pinnacle Bank Arena, 400 Pinnacle Arena Drive. Additional details are available on the university’s commencement website. Ceremony speakers are to be determined.
Along with summer 2021 graduates, the ceremonies are open to 2020 alumni who, due to COVID-19 limitations, were unable to receive degrees during an in-person celebration.
Due to the global pandemic, the university held all commencement exercises virtually in 2020. Led by national and local successes in vaccination totals and virus declines, the university is gradually returning to normal activity levels. Recent campus shifts include holding a physically-distanced commencement on May 8; planning for 100 percent in-person courses in the fall 2021 semester; and hosting the expanded August commencement with 2020 graduates.
All 2020 graduates have until June 24 to reserve a spot in the celebration. An RSVP form is available here. Those 2020 alumni who cannot attend the August commencement will continue to have the opportunity to participate in future in-person graduation celebrations.
Current students planning to participate in the August ceremonies have until June 11 to apply for a degree. Details are available through the university registrar.
The most current information regarding August commencement exercises is available on the university’s commencement website.
