Athletics, Sheldon Museum partner for youth literacy event

Nebraska Athletics and Sheldon Museum of Art partner with Linked2Literacy for an event highlighting reading, art and community.

Nebraska Athletics has partnered with Linked2Literacy and Sheldon Museum of Art to present “Reading through Art: The House on Mango Street,” part of Athletics’ annual Go Big Read.

They will host an event for local youth from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 26 at Sheldon Museum of Art. The evening will include guided gallery talks, hands-art activities and community stories center on the book “The House on Mango Street" by Sandra Cisneros and the Sheldon exhibition "Hyphen American: Intersections of Identity."

Part of a week-long celebration of literacy, the Sheldon event follows visits by Husker athletes to local elementary schools and libraries and book drives at local organizations.
