Homecoming Royalty 2019

Homecoming Royalty 2019

Homecoming is a long-standing tradition for students, parents and alumni to work together and celebrate their love and appreciation for the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and show Husker pride.

Homecoming week is Oct. 4-10 and will feature events like student competitions and display contests; a campuswide blood drive; homecoming concert; parade; pep rally and jester competition; and the Cornstock Festival.

For homecoming royalty, a king and queen are selected from the student body. Any full-time student who has completed at least 75 hours by the end of spring semester and has a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA are eligible to apply to be a candidate for Homecoming Royalty. All applications are due online by 11:59 p.m. May 9. Applications only will determine which candidates move to the interview phase.

Student are required to choose one of three tracks for homecoming royalty submission:

Academic track — For students who have made an impact through academics, such as teaching assistants; research assistants; and tutors. This track is not solely for students with high GPAs or in the honors program.

Athletics track — For students who have made an impact in any type of sport, including intramural sports, equestrian, rodeo, sport clubs and varsity athletics.

Involvement track — For students who have made an impact through any university club or organizations club (with the exception of athletics) and/or volunteer organizations beyond the scope of the university (e.g. volunteering at a hospital).

Important dates to remember

  • May 9 — Applications are due online by 11:59 p.m. (including references)
