Applications are now being accepted for the Big Ten Academic Alliance Student Design Challenge, a contest in which Huskers can redesign a space on campus for a chance to win a cash prize. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 27.
Student teams will compete by submitting new designs for an informal space chosen at each of the competing schools. One team will be selected to move forward to the national round of the competition. The top three teams will then be sent to the Herman Miller headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to refine and pitch their ideas to a panel of academic and industry space design experts.
The single best overall design will be built during the summer of 2019 with up to $80,000 of free furniture from Herman Miller; $20,000 of renovation costs covered by the Big Ten Academic Alliance; and a $2,000 cash prize awarded to the winning student team. Details on how to participate are available online.
