Applications are being accepted for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s second annual Science Slam. The campus-wide contest, in which student researchers communicate their work through short presentations to a diverse audience, is from noon to 1:30 p.m. April 10 in the Nebraska Union Colonial Room.
The event is free and open to the university community.
Participation in the Science Slam is open to graduate students, undergraduate researchers and individuals engaged in postdoctoral research in all scientific disciplines, including mathematics, engineering and the social sciences. The goal is to communicate and promote university research across the divides of discipline, expertise and skill level.
Presenter applications are being accepted through March 27. Finalists will be announced March 31. The winner will be decided by the audience at the Science Slam on April 10.
Finalists will each receive $50 prizes, with the winner earning an additional $250.
Registration is required to attend the event because a lunch buffet will be provided. There is no deadline to register, but space is limited to the first 100 registrants.
