University of Nebraska–Lincoln staff who wish to start, adjust or continue remote work are reminded to complete the NU system’s alternative worksite form by Jan. 31.
The form is available in Firefly, under the “Alternative Worksite Arrangement” tab. The form was developed as part of the NU system’s new Alternative Worksite Policy, announced in December. The policy allows for flexible work arrangements with certain parameters.
In accordance with the policy, staff wishing to start, adjust or continue remote work are required to fill out the form and submit it to their supervisor by Jan. 31. Staff requesting to work remotely for 50 percent or more of their time will also need approval from the vice chancellor for business and finance.
Staff who only work remotely occasionally — for example, an occasional period away from the office for any personal or professional reason – do not need to complete the form. It is required only for those seeking remote or hybrid work on a regular, ongoing basis.
Remote and hybrid work arrangements are expected to be subject to annual approval.
Complete details on the NU system’s Alternative Worksite Policy, including Q&As on remote, hybrid and out-of-state work, are available here.
Staff members with questions should talk with their supervisor or contact Human Resources.
The Alternative Worksite Policy does not currently apply to faculty.
