The Department of Agronomy and Horticulture will host a special seminar featuring guest speaker Shofia Saleh at 3 p.m. July 11 in Keim Hall, Room 150. The presentation will be offered in-person and online.
Saleh will present “Swimming in Boiling Water: Working at the Intersection of Oil Palm Production and Protection of Fragile Ecosystems in Indonesia.” She will explain why a collaborative project between governments, academia and non-government organizations can play a pivotal role to avoid conversion of fragile ecosystems for oil palm cultivation, by providing solutions that can help reconcile production and environmental goals.
Saleh is a smallholder transformation and oil palm intensification project lead for the World Resources Institute in Indonesia.
This special seminar was organized by Agronomy and Horticulture’s Patricio Grassini, associate professor, and Kaye Wolfe, digital support associate.
