A free training for students in agricultural settings, “Gear Up for Ag Health and Safety,” is set for Nov. 28 in Keim Hall, room 150, on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln East Campus.
Training is free and will be held twice. When registering, students must choose either the 9 a.m. to noon class, or the 1-4 p.m. class.
Topics covered include proper personal protective equipment use and care, safe use of machinery and ATVs, eye and hearing safety, respiratory health and protection, illnesses, reducing pesticide exposures, livestock safety, preventing zoonosis and antimicrobial resistance, heat illness and sun safety, cold weather safety, stress and mental health and preparing and health and safety plans.
This is an interactive program resulting in customized trainings that deliver an ag health and safety message related to exposures at work and home.
Attendees will receive free personal protective equipment including N95 filtering facepiece respirator, safety glasses, hearing protection, chemical gloves and a sun safe hat.
