Poet Tsitsi Jaji opens a series of UNL events that highlight African culture.
Jaji will present “Africa In Stereo: Listening for Pan-African Futures,” 3:30 to 5 p.m. Feb. 26 in Andrews Hall’s Bailey Library. She will also offer a poetry reading from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Nebraska Union, Regency A room.
The “African Week 2015” events are presented by UNL’s African Student Association. Other events, which are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted, include:
“Dish It Up Late Night — What Does it Mean? Being Black, African American, African,” a free discussion about cultural identities and labels, 7 to 8 p.m., March 3, Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center student lounge
African Student Association bake sale, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., March 4, Nebraska Union food court
Screening of the documentary “Pray the Devil Back to Hell,” 8 p.m., March 5, Nebraska Union, Regency A
African Dance Night, 8 to 11 p.m. March 7, Nebraska Union Ballroom, free for students.
