Recent accomplishments by the campus community were earned by Katherine Ankerson, Mark Pegg, Philip Schwadel and Jerry Sellentin.

Katherine Ankerson, dean of the College of Architecture, was appointed as a new member of the Council for Interior Design Accreditation board of directors. Ankerson was appointed to a three-year term as the accredited program representative for the nine-member board. Ankerson’s term began Jan. 1. The Council for Interior Design Accreditation is an independent, non-profit, accrediting organization responsible for setting standards and evaluating degree-granting interior design programs. Mark Pegg, professor of natural resources, received the award of excellence from the Nebraska Chapter of the American Fisheries Society during the 77th Midwest Fisheries and Wildlife Conference, Feb 5 in Lincoln. The award is the society’s highest honor for scientific achievement and is presented to a member who makes outstanding contributions to the science of fisheries and aquatic resources. The nomination cited Pegg for his work helping to advance Nebraska’s fishery program. For more information, click here.
Philip Schwadel, professor of sociology, has been selected to receive a Global Religion Research Initiative Curriculum Development grant. The grant will support the development of his online, upper-division course that examines a variety of religions around the world with the focus on interactions between people from diverse religious backgrounds. The initiative aims to advance the empirical study of global religion in mainstream academia by granting funds to promising researchers in the field. Jerry Sellentin, lecturer of management, is being recognized by the Tom and Nancy Osborne and TeamMates of Lincoln for serving as a mentor through the Decade of Difference Award. Created by the Osbornes in 1991 with the vision of positively impacting students, TeamMates awarded 11 mentors for volunteering for 10 years at its annual Recognition Dinner on Jan. 26. Since serving the program, Sellentin mentored four different students. For more information, click here.
