UNL History Club’s Civil War camp canceled

Braeden Perrie, a history and electrical engineering major from Minden, Nebraska, talks with Civil War re-enactor Joshua Andersen during the 2014 event.

Editor’s Note — This event has been canceled due to the threat of rain. It will not be rescheduled.

The UNL History Club is offering a chance for students, faculty and staff to experience a Civil War camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 16.

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War re-enactors will set up campsites on the green space north of the Nebraska Union. The re-enactors will give detailed presentations on the differences in uniforms, weaponry and the daily tasks of a Civil War solider.

The interactive events are 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The event is weather dependent and is free and open to the public.
