Two ensembles take to Kimball stage for one amazing night

Two Glenn Korff School of Music ensembles join for one amazing night of music when the UNL Graduate Jazz5tet and the UNL Big Band take to the Kimball Recital Hall stage at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28.

The performance will include the season premiere concert for the UNL Graduate Jazz5tet, directed by Darryl White, professor of music. The program will feature the music of the great saxophonist and composer, Joe Henderson. Selections will include “Serenity,” “Jinrikisha,” “Shade of Jade,” “Recorda-Me,” and “Inner Urge.”

The UNL Big Band, directed by Masayoshi Ishikawa, a graduate teaching assistant, will also perform. The program includes “Just You Just Me,” “Miss Fine,” “Whispering,” “The Queen Bee” and “The Heat’s On.”

Tickets, available at the door, are $5 general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens.
