Locally sourced food can’t get much closer than growing it on your back porch. Learn how to grow your own salad, fruit and other items when Corey Brabec presents a free lecture on “Container Gardening with Edibles” at 7 p.m. April 14 at the Nebraska Union.

Brabec, manager of the Earl May Garden Center at 48th Street and Highway 2, will demonstrate how to create container gardens using edible plants. He also will discuss the importance of plants for pollinators.

Brabec’s talk is sponsored by UNL Garden Friends, a group of volunteers who advocate on behalf of the UNL Botanical Gardens and Aboretum. UNL Garden Friends will have door prizes for those attending this informal talk. A free reception follows the talk.
