Student observatory open house is April 18

Weather permitting, Jupiter and its four brightest moons will be featured in the April 18 open house at the UNL Student Observatory. The event is free and open to the public.

The UNL Student Observatory hosts its final public night of the spring semester, 7:30 to 10 p.m. April 18. The event is free and open to the public.

Weather permitting, the event will include observing the night sky through various telescopes, educational activities for kids and refreshments. Prominent night sky objects include the planet Jupiter and its four biggest moons, and the Orion Nebula.

The observatory is located on top of the Stadium Drive Parking Garage, on the corner of 10th and T streets.

Open house organizers use Twitter to provide updates on if the observatory is open based on weather conditions. The Twitter account is available at https://twitter.com/ObservatoryUNL.
