UNL’s School of Natural Resources has announced the schedule for its fall research seminar series.

All of the seminars will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in the Hardin Hall auditorium. The seminars are free and open to the public.

• Oct. 14 - “Using a Water Budget Analysis to Understand Surface Water and Groundwater Interaction,” Duane Woodward, district hydrologist from the Central Platte Natural Resources District.

• Oct. 28 - “Communicating Human Dimensions Findings to Non-technical Audiences: The Potential for Conflict Index,” Jerry Vaske, professor of human dimensions of natural resources, Colorado State University.

• Nov. 4 - “Attempting a Conservation ‘0 to 60’: Sampling and Detection, Life History and Habitat Use, and Correlates of Widespread Extirpation in Bridle Shiner,” Jason Vokoun, associate professor and director, wildlife and fisheries conservation center, Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, University of Connecticut.

• Nov. 11 - “Water Law Update,” Anthony Schutz, associate professor, University of Nebraska College of Law.

• Nov. 18 - “The Impact of Climate and Irrigation on Crop Yields,” Tara Troy, assistant professor of water resources engineering, Lehigh University.

• Dec. 9 - “A Species of Special Conservation Concern Occupying Anthropogenic Habits: Studies of Piping Plovers in the Great Plains,” Mary Bomberger Brown, research assistant professor and program coordinator, UNL’s Tern and Plover Conservation Partnership.
