Series to explore Lincoln’s Sunken Gardens

The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum's Gardens in July series will examine three planting areas, including Lincoln's Sunken Gardens, on July 13. The tours, which feature community gardens, are offered Wednesdays in July.

The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum will hold a walking tour of Lincoln’s Sunken Gardens and two other planting areas at 6:30 p.m. July 13.

The tour is part of the NSA’s weekly Gardens in July series, which explores a variety of Lincoln’s community planting beds. The tours, which are free and open to the public, are offered on Wednesday evenings through July 27.

Along with the Sunken Gardens, located at 26th and D streets, the July 13 tour will include the nearby Hamann Rose Garden and Strolling Garden. The tour will start from the gazebo on the west side of the Sunken Gardens.

Remaining tours in the series include:

July 20 — Beattie Elementary School, 1901 Calvert St. Tour begins on the east side of the school.

July 27 — Union Plaza, 250 N. 21st St. Tour begins at the Jayne Snyder Trail Center, 228 N. 21st St.
