This year’s annual Book Prize Reading and Celebration event will feature readings from writers Bryn Chancellor and Jennifer Perrine. The celebration, honoring the two winners of the 2014 Prairie Schooner Book Prize, will be at 7 p.m. March 1 at the Great Plains Art Museum, 1155 Q St.

Prairie Schooner is a 90-year-old national literary journal published quarterly with the support of the English Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska Press. It is home to the best fiction, poetry, essays and reviews being published today by beginning, mid-career and established writers around the globe.

Chancellor is an assistant professor of English at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Her honors include the Poets and Writers Maureen Egen Writers Exchange Award and several others. She has been featured in numerous literary journals including Colorado Review, Phoebe and Crazyhorse. She will read from her prize-winning short-story collection “When Are You Coming Home?” (University of Nebraska Press, 2015).

Perrine is an associate professor of English and directs the Women’s and Gender Studies program at Drake University. She is the author of “In the Human Zoo,” recipient of the Agha Shahid Ali Poetry Prize; and “The Body is No Machine,” winner of the Devil’s Kitchen Reading Award in Poetry. She will read from her prize-winning poetry collection “No Confession, No Mass” (University of Nebraska Press, 2015).

Following the readings, there will be a discussion, book signing and light refreshments. The event is free and open to the public.
