Kyle Smith, (left) a freshman from New Orleans, and Luiz Paulo Zavanella, a student from Brazil participating in the Science Without Borders program, play chess in the Nebraska Union on June 9. The two students played to a draw on a chess board provided by Wesley Brown, a former UNL employee. Brown often brings a variety of games — chess, Chinese chess and English draughts (similar to checkers) — to play pick-up games with students in the Nebraska Union.
