MyRed users targeted by email phishing scheme

The Information Technology Services security team has issued an alert on a phishing email targeting MyRed users.

The email includes the subject line “You have 1 new Security Message.” A link inside the message directs users to an authentic looking MyRed login screen. The fraudulent screen is designed to steal user credentials before transitioning users back to a UNL website.

Anyone who has received the email should delete it. Individuals who have clicked the link in the message and entered credentials should change their password immediately. For more information on how to change compromised credentials, click here. Affected users can also contact the Computer Help Center at mysupport@unl.edu, 402-472-3970 or 866-472-3970.

The Information Technology Services security team has blocked access to the fraudulent site on campus. However, the site can be reached via off-campus Internet connections.
