Sheldon Museum of Art invites K-12 educators to “Artful Teaching,” a free evening of learning and casual networking from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23. Teachers will have a chance to explore cross-disciplinary connections of the recently adopted Nebraska fine art standards through writing, looking and art-making activities.

With focus on the Sheldon exhibition, “Things Speak: Storied Objects from Lincoln Collections,” participants will work with the UNL Maker Club to create paper circuit drawings or thumb casts.

“Artful Teaching” is a free event open to Lincoln Public Schools, parochial, private and home school educators.

Sheldon Museum of Art houses a permanent collection of more than 12,000 objects focusing on American art. Sheldon is open free to the public during regular hours: Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. The museum is closed on Monday.
