Monthly walking tours of greenspaces on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s East Campus are being held the first Tuesday of each month through November.

All of the UNL Gardens tours are noon to 1 p.m. and led by Emily Levine, special projects research horticulturist. In the event of inclement weather, the tour will be held the second Tuesday of the month.

“The tours are informal with wonderful sharing by participants,” Levine said. “In essence, the tours are designed to help us learn to see and to learn what to look for. We’ll also observe how different plants change through the seasons and share maintenance tips. And I’ll place plants in the larger context of history and the arts.”

The UNL Gardens tours have been offered for a number of years. After a recent focus on Maxwell Arboretum, the tours are now expanding to cover other landscape areas.

The next tour is May 3 and will feature the woody plant area (known as the Carbon Sink) at the northeast corner of 38th Street and East Campus Loop.
